Setting the thermostat higher doesn’t heat the house up faster

I woke up in the middle of the night last night and was roasting hot.

I uncovered and went to the thermostat and found that it had been set to 98 degrees and the boiler was still on.

I right away knew it was my hubby who did it… Tonight was the first night my buddy and I had used the boiler for several months. We got household and it was freezing inside. My hubby seems to guess that by turning the boiler up higher, it will heat up faster. I keep telling him it doesn’t work that way and to just set the thermostat to the temperature he would like the house to be, however but of course, I didn’t spend my money attention when he turned the boiler on last night, but usually, he remembers and turns the thermostat back down once the house is comfortable, he must have forgotten tonight and now my buddy and I have wasted a lot of energy heating up the house this way. I also knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep in that kind of heat so I opened a few windows and reset the thermostat to about 20 degrees colder. About two hours later, I was finally able to sleep again. Of course, he slept through the whole incident however I let him know what he had done this morning. He promised it won’t happen again however I know it will. That is, unless I check the thermostat before bed myself. Oh well, I feel my buddy and I all have quirks that annoy each other. However, he might learn his lesson when he sees the utility bill.
