Heating system not laboring during a snowstorm

When I was growing up, my family would travel to the northern states so my friend and I could see snow; Each winter, my friend and I rented the same lodge. The weather in this region was actually chilly & there were a lot of snowstorms. One year while my friend and I were holidaying, my friend and I met up with my family that lives nearby, then knowing that my friend and I were uncorrect with the region & the kind of weather they experience, they warned us to stay household the following day due to an approaching snowstorm, but being from the southern region, my friend and I did not know what a snowstorm entailed; My superb friend and I were correct with heavy rain & hurricanes, but never snowstorms. My superb friend and I decided to take their advice & hunker down for the day. My superb friend and I did not expect what came next. Out of nowhere, the snowfall & wind starting to opening up, but similar to a hurricane, my friend and I eventually lost electricity. My superb friend and I hastily realized that my friend and I were in trouble once the furnace turned off. My superb friend and I were immediately thinking of alternative ways to hot the lodge with no central heat or access to space heaters. My superb friend and I were delighted to find that there was a back up furnace in the basement of the lodge. This goes to show that if you are uncorrect with your territory, you should do research & be prepared in the event of a snowstorm or other inweather conditions weather situation. My superb friend and I were lucky that there was a back up furnace in the basement of our rental lodge. Without this, my friend and I would have been cold & might have had to risk going out in the snowstorm… None of us had ever driven in snow or ice, so my friend and I got actually lucky.
