The SPT SF-608R is not an air conditioner, but rather an air cooler which makes it more energy efficient and better used in dry conditions, rather than humid ones. It works by blowing the cool air off of the water and ice cubes that can be loaded inside into the room that the air cooler is placed into. This makes it good for cooling and dehumidifying, but not for chilling a room. It also makes this machine more energy efficient since the machine is only blowing air, not cooling or heating it and more portable since it’s not full of machinery. However, if you’re looking for something that will chill your room, look elsewhere.

It works very well at cooling the air using evaporating water which makes it more energy efficient than other air conditioners. It is very portable and lightweight and doesn’t have to be put in a window; in fact, it does best by being as close as possible to the people it’s cooling. Since it isn’t full of gimmicks, it’s cheaper and takes less energy to power.

Handles Hot and Dry Areas

On the other hand, this is only a cooling unit, not an air conditioner and it will only work in fairly specific circumstances. It won’t make a room cold, nor will it make a room moist, but rather, it will cool the air and dehumidify it and only in a certain area. If you are looking for something to turn your room into an iceberg, look elsewhere. Too, this unit can be a bit noisy and it has to be cleaned once in a while. However, if you want something to handle a hot, dry area, then this is a good unit to consider.

Easy to Fit Into Any Window

This twin window fan has two fans which are adjustable in power-low, medium, and high-and can function either together or independently of each other. The fan has adjustable sides which makes it easier to fit into any size window and even has side screens to keep out insects and the motor is rain resistant so that you don’t have to take the fan down when it’s wet outside. It works well at drawing stale air out of a room and bringing in fresh air that will feel cooler. This fan is also a lot cooler than other fans are.

Although the fan is cheap-only about thirty three dollars on Amazon-it’s a good quality piece, though of course not the highest quality. They are simple to use since there’s not much more to them besides the dual fans and are cheap enough to be disposable if they do break down.

Cheap Price at a Cost

This is a cheaper fan however and the cheapness comes in the materials which are very little more than plastic and the fact that the fans are difficult to clean properly. This means that dirt and dust clogs up the fans and makes them break down. The fan is quieter than other fans, but there is still noise associated with it, so if you’re looking for a silent fan, this isn’t it. However, these few issues are fairly minor compared to the usefulness of the fan overall.

Honeywell HW-628 goes for about thirty three dollars on Amazon and has a five year limited warranty attached to it. This is a middle of the road price for many fans, but it is an above the middle of the road quality, so it’s well worth the price.
